HelpMaker v8
HelpMaker breaks prior limitations in help authoring by providing new and novel way to collaborate and author help files. The screen captures and annotations you see below were made using HelpMaker itself.

HelpMaker uses 64-bit primary keys and big iron-database (MSSQL and MySQL) to store data.

Rethinking the Help process.
To begin, our startup dialog box was re-designed to be more meaningful and more intuitive. Nobody wants to click through a "Tip-of-the-Day" dialog box, "Support" dialog box, "Open Dialog" dialog box... why not combine them into one dialog box instead?
Startup Tab

Instead of File|Open, you have a list of recently connected MSSQL or MySQL databases.
Connection List

HelpMaker uses native OLEDB drivers (instead of BDE, DbExpress, ODBC, etc.)

To author help, you need to login to your database containing the help file:

The database proprties dialog box contains user name, database name, database-brand in clear written English:

The main HelpMaker VIII interface is divided into three parts, the left Folder, Right-Top document and Right-Bottom version list:

HelpMaker is not "just" for Help Authoring Tool experts. Novel, book and casual writers can also use HelpMaker to write their books:

HelpMaker captures the essence of Knowledge Authoring. The Help File is not just the about giving people "more help". Today's help file should also capture the knowledge about how to help people:

Dual Language support is enabled. HelpMaker stores data in UTF16 and full support for all languages.

HTML Editing is also available, along with CSS and raw HTML editing:

HelpMaker stores images in database and this is an annotated picture with a picture. Just think how useful it would be to have annotated picture. It would EXPLAIN things clearly.

HelpMaker is more than just Help Authoring. With Application shortcuts, your shortcuts are just few clicks away.

The problem with help authoring is the number of "similar" documents. HelpMaker makes it easy to use your favorite redline tool to compare two help documents.

With HelpMaker, help authoring does not have to be grunt-work and fighting over the help file.
